Professor Wael Zatar is the Dean of the College of Information Technology and Engineering at Marshall University. He has earlier served as the Interim Dean and as a Professor of Civil and Structural Engineering in the College. He serves as Director, University Transportation Center and as the Director for Innovations and Asset Management of Sustainable Transportation Infrastructure Systems at the Nick J. Rahall II Transportation Institute. He served as the President of the West Virginia Section of the American Society for Civil Engineers.
Dr. Zatar was awarded more than 50 awards and honors. He served as a Delegate on few National Science Foundation International Workshops. He was appointed to the Transportation Research Board Expert Task Group for the Strategic Highway Research Program II of the National Academics. He has attracted, directed, and participated in 45 funded projects from governmental and state agencies and has disseminated research findings through authoring more than 125 journal, conference and technical publications. He has published and written chapters in five books. He has attended and presented articles in more than 140 conferences, workshops and short courses. He has served as a member of 16 professional societies, three honor societies and 32 National Committees. He serves as a reviewer for 15 International Civil Engineering Journals. He has been an invited speaker in 45 universities and technical institutions. He has organized and chaired 35 national and regional conferences and meetings and provided several short training courses. Dr. Zatar has accumulated a significant industrial expertise resulting from six years of full-time employment and 18 years part-time employment.
