As part of the mobility and virtual mobility theme accelerated by the unfortunate Covid-19 outbreak, the Global Engineering Deans Council has taken the initiative to enable engineering students at member institutions of both GEDC and SEFI to access to the GEDC Virtual Internship Program. Through this program students can access internship opportunities shared by corporate and university members of the two organizations, gaining critical professional skills and international experience, even while at home. Engineering students need internship experiences in order to fulfill their graduation requirements, gain insight into professional environments, and obtain practical skills.

GEDC and participating SEFI members receive a registration link to log in and upload internship opportunities relevant for undergraduate students. Participating universities will also receive a code to transmit to relevant students to be able to log in, browse and apply for the opportunities provided. Students swill apply directly to the host institution – details on how to apply are to be provided along with the description of the internship opportunities.

Participating in the program is one of the many benefits of GEDC and SEFI membership and is based on the principle of reciprocity – institutions offer roughly as many internship opportunities for ‘incoming’ students, as the number of students they expect to ‘send out’.
