“Lives, Not Grades” USC Viterbi School of Engineering Innovative Solutions to Humanitarian Crisis

USC Viterbi School of Engineering has developed a film “Lives, Not Grades” that was recently premiered on PBS in May 2021 and is currently streaming on the PBS App.

The film follows a team of USC engineering students that travel to Europe’s largest refugee camp on the Greek Island of Lesvos to innovate tech solutions to the humanitarian crisis unfolding there.

At its heart, “Lives Not Grades” is a dramatic, thrilling, and inspirational story embedded in geopolitical events. It is an honest look at the innovation process and the importance of learning from failure.  It facilitates a timely conversation about the role of engineering, technology, higher education, and young people in addressing complex problems.

What materials would have the most impact on your readership?  Ideally we would like to drive audiences to watch the film.

There is a film’s page on PBS (along with a longer article about the innovative engineering course):
