Dr. Babu is currently the Vice Chancellor of Galgotias University.
Educational Background
Obtained B.E. Degree in Industrial Production Engineering in the Year 1986, M.E. Degree in Metal Casting Science in 1988 and acquired PhD during 1996 from Bangalore University.
Experience Overview
§ Started his career from working in industry & then switched to academics. In the beginning, served as lecturer and subsequently as Assistant Professor in Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Bangalore and then joined BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore as Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering & Management during 1999. Then served as Head of the Department (1999-2004) and as Vice-Principal (2004-2008). At present working as Principal BMS College of Engineering, Bangalore (2008-till date). All my teaching service is under grant-in-aid (aided service).
§ Has over 25 years of teaching experience (government aided college) in engineering education supplemented by vast Experience in serving at different capacities in Technical Education. Has guided 05 PhD scholars and currently guiding 03 research scholars for their doctoral degree. Has published more than 50 original research papers in National and International Journals. Delivered many Invited Talks and Guest Lectures at symposiums, Faculty Development Programs etc.,
§ Serving as affiliation committee member on National and International academic bodies such as AICTE, NBA, UGC, VTU, and State Government and member of international forums like the Melton Foundation (USA), IUCEE (USA) and India Platform (UK).
§ A fellow of Indian Industrial Engineers committed for enhancing quality engineering education through educational reforms and use of technology.
Accomplishments as Principal
As a Principal of BMS College of Engineering, a leading technical institution in state of Karnataka contributed to its progress by guiding the staff in accomplishing the vision of being a centre for technical and academic excellence. Introduced many new courses/programmes both in conventional and emerging areas. With the keen interest to promote and develop research, organized many International and National Conferences, symposiums, various Workshops, Seminars etc.,
§ Introduced several innovative teaching processes by academic strategy, direction and management. Organized several academic programs on different areas of Engineering & management for the benefit of students, participants & fellow academicians. Mooted and successfully implemented many Good Governance practices.
§ Took up the challenging responsibility of Program Coordinator & Nodal Officer (Procurements) for World banked sponsored TEQIP-I project of BMS College of Engineering and played lead role in successful implementation of the project. The performance rating of 9.2/10 has benchmarked the institution with NITs & other premier Institutions of the country.
§ Lead the institution to acquire academic autonomy and introduced several education reforms to enhance the quality of teaching learning process.
§ Has been instrumental for successful accreditation of the institution by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) with ‘A’ grade highest CGPA of 3.41/4.00 in the state; and successful accreditation of the programmes by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
§ Pushed the concept of outcome based education leading BMSCE as the first engineering college in the Country to be evaluated by National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi under (Tier-I) Washington Accord.
§ Visited several leading universities in USA, UK, Germany, China, Chile and imparted some of their best practices at BMSCE. Many collaborative academic and research endeavors have been mooted on the sidelines of these visits.

Respected figure in the community and have received several awards such as the Dr. S. R. Gollapudi Award, Dr. J M Mahajan Award. Pual Harris Fellowship from the Rotary International for contributing to strengthening institutional activities. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Award for contribution to Engineering Education as Principal by MAA Charitable Trust, Bangalore Very Actively Followed on Social Media such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.
