Gonzalo Fernández-Del-Carpio, Ph.D. was born in 1978 in Arequipa, Peru. He is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Computing at Universidad Catolica San Pablo (UCSP), in Arequipa, Peru. He is also a senior full-time Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering. He is the former Director of Research and former Director of the Professional School of Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering of UCSP. He dedicates his teaching in the Professional School of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and in the scientific master of Internet of Things.

Regarding his studies, he obtained the engineering degree as a Systems Engineer (Computer Engineering) from the Catholic University of Santa María in 2004. He obtained two scholarships to study in Spain, and he obtained in 2005 the Master in E-Business, Telecommunications and New Business Models from University of Cantabria, Spain. Then, he obtained the M.Sc. (2008) and the Ph.D. (2012) in Telematics Engineering from Universidad Carlos III def Madrid, Spain. His research interests are in optical networking, Internet of Things and networking optimization. He was part of the BONE Research Network in Optical Networks of the European Union.

He published research articles in conferences and indexed journals (of the Journal Citation Reports – JCR). He has also been part of research projects funded by the national agency for science an technology (Concytec). In 2015 he was awarded with the Best Paper Award at IEEE LATINCOM, held in Cuenca, Ecuador. He was the General Chair of the IEEE LATINCOM in 2015.
