Carlos Jerez Hanckes is Dean and professor of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at University Adolfo Ibáñez since 2019. Professor Jerez has a rich experience in academia, research and innovation in Chile and internationally. Until 2018 he was Director of the Institute for Mathematical and Computational Engineering at Universidad Católica de Chile. He has over 9 years of experience teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in Chile, Sweden, Holland and Switzerland, as well as seminars and capstones in Applied Math, CSE and Electrical Engineering.

He was also Program Director at the Mathematical & Computational Engineering Department at Universidad Católica de Chile, associate professor at the same university and guest professor and lecturer at the Department of Mathematics of Mathematics at ETH, Zurich, Switzerland. He was also postdoctoral researcher at ETH (Fellow). In 2016 he was visiting scholar at TU Delft, Holland.

Professor Jerez has published over 30 papers in reputed international journals and conferences in different areas associated with Engineering, Medicine, and Astronomy, among others. He has also participated as associate and principal investigator in different public and private scientific research and innovation projects with MIT, Gavle University, University of Notre Dame and ETH.

He graduated as an Industrial end Electrical Engineer from Universidad Católica de Chile (2005), was awarded with a master’s degree in Engineering Sciences by Universidad Católica de Chile and holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics at the École Polytechnique, France.
