Dedicated to engineering education and creating new pathways through collaborative partnerships that enhance student success, Dr. Rayegani has a wealth of experience in the fields of teaching, research, innovation and development. He has authored and co-authored numerous publications and has extensive experience consulting for several industries to further the field of advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies. His career in higher education spans more than 20 years and includes time as a faculty member, researcher, manager, director and associate dean. He holds a Master of Science in Engineering and a Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering Systems from the University of Miskolc in Hungary.

Dr. Rayegani is credited with encouraging interdisciplinary teams of faculty, students, industry and community partners to collaborate and develop applied research programs and project-based learning activities that solve complex and real-world problems. Over the past 15 years, he has been simultaneously collaborating with SME enterprises on emerging technology projects while developing applied research programs.

As a professional engineer, Dr. Rayegani is committed to the engineering field and higher education while continuing to develop curriculum based on a new engineering education philosophy. This framework educates students to conceive, design, implement and operate complex, value-added engineering products, processes, and systems in a modern, team-based, global environment. Under his leadership, Humber FAST launched three new engineering degrees in fall, 2021: Information Systems Engineering, Mechatronics and The Built Environment. Dedicated to project-based, hands-on learning, Dr. Rayegani aims to nurture the next generation of engineers who are career ready upon graduation.

Over the span of his career, Dr. Rayegani has also taken on leadership roles with several professional associations and organizations. He is the co-chair of the National Council of Deans of Apprenticeship, Trades and Technology (NCDATT) and the chair of Colleges Ontario – Heads of Technology, the voice of Ontario college technology education that leads provincial initiatives related to technology educated, applied research and career development. Furthermore, Dr. Rayegani holds memberships in several organizations including the Engineering Deans Council (American Society of Engineering Education), the Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Ontario Society of Professional Engineers, the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and the Conference Board of Canada’s Experiential Learning Research Advisory Board.

The recipient of numerous leadership awards, Dr. Rayegani was awarded the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) 20-year Volunteer Service Recognition for his dedication to the engineering profession. He is the recipient of the 2016 Brampton Board of Trade Business Excellence Leadership Award and is designated an Engineers Canada Fellow by Engineers Canada, a prestigious award presented in recognition of exceptional contributions to the engineering profession in Canada.
