Current Position, Areas of Research:
Nominated Dean from Chitkara University has about 15 years of work experience in India’s top research and educational institutes like National Physical Laboratory, India and Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani.
He has authored one book on “Solid State Electronic Devices” published by Oxford University Press. He also co-convened two national level workshops for academicians and industry professionals sponsored by DST, CSIR, AICTE, IEEE, and Genesis Microchip as well during his tenure at BITS in year 2005 and 2006 respectively. He has presented a part of his research work at Materials Research Society Symposium held at San Francisco, CA, USA in March, 2005 and also at Risoe National Laboratory, Roskilde, Denmark. With an Ardent desire to excel in Academics and to make a commendable contribution towards education, he has been guiding students for their right career paths and enjoys each every element of responsibility assigned to him. Sharma believes in giving more than 100 percent to any tasks that he undertakes and always strives hard to achieve excellence. A strong believer of the dictum that, “A Teacher’s task is not only to teach students, but also to make them useful citizens of this society,” he owes a lot of this kind of sense developed in him to his teachers. He has been instrumental in planning and implementation of a unique kind of academic system at the School of Engineering and Technology, Chitkara University.

Principal Education and Research Activities:
Chitkara University is deeply involved in promoting and sponsoring research activities. Faculty members have been carrying out research in areas like Nano electronics, This film deposition and characterization, Antenna engineering, Parallel Programing, Cloud computing, Network security, Environmental Sciences and Earthquake engineering.
Institute hosts Training Centers / Centers of Excellence sponsored by World’s renowned industries in their respective domains like nVidia, ARM, Texas Instruments, Cadence, nXP Semiconductors. Other ventures, which are going to be in place in near future are: a) Center for Excellence in Bosch; b) Center of Excellence by Oracle
Faculty members work regularly on the projects sponsored by the government of India.
