Young-Oh Kim is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Seoul National University (SNU) and has served as Dean of the College of Engineering since 2024. His previous leadership roles at SNU include Head of the Department of Civil
and Environmental Engineering (2020–2021) and Dean for Student Affairs (2021–2023).

He received his Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Seoul National University in 1989, and his Master’s degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1991. He earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from
the University of Washington in 1996.

Professor Kim’s research focuses on hydrologic forecasting, water resources systems analysis, climate change impact assessment and adaptation, and drought and flood risk analysis. His work has contributed to national and international projects addressing water-
related challenges under climate change.

He is actively involved in international professional societies and currently serves as President of the Hydrological Section of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AOGS). He has also held key leadership positions within the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR) and has served as an associate editor for leading journals in the field.
