An Associate Professor at the University of Malawi – the Polytechnic in the department of Civil Engineering. Theresa is currently the Dean of Faculty of Engineering. She holds a PhD in water engineering obtained from Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. She has a Master of Science degree in Environmental Engineering obtained from Oklahoma State University, USA. Theresa’s areas of specialisation are water quality, water supply and sanitation, wastewater treatment and Water Resources Management (WRM). Dr Mkandawire is a Board member for a regional water network (WaterNet), a capacity building network in water. She is also the First President of the Malawi Institution of Engineers as well as the Vice chairperson of the Water Resources Board. Theresa is a member of the Africa Engineering Deans Council and Africa Engineering Education Association.
