Alejandro Velásquez

Dean and academic of the Faculty of Engineering of the Metropolitan Technological University (UTEM), Global and Regional Councilor GEDC (Global Engineering Deans Council). Is currently also Director of the Engineering 2030 UTEM Project. Has a Master in Higher Education Management, double degree obtained from Georgetown University and European University of Madrid, IEDE, DEA (Dr.Ing (c)) in Terrain Engineering from the UPC Catalunya, Spain. He is a Surveying Engineer from the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH), a Bachelor of Applied Engineering from the same University, a Diploma in Development Management, Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Chile and a Diploma in Educational Management. Throughout his academic career he has held multiple management positions at UTEM, standing out as Director of the School of Surveying Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering for several periods, Director of the School of Industries, Director of the Technical Office of Projects of the Academic Vicerrectory (VRAC) and Director of National and International Relationships of the University. Likewise, he has participated in various outreach, research and development projects. In his professional life he worked in the Mining, Forestry and Road Works Industry.

Profile: Proactive postgraduate engineer, empathetic, purposeful leader, formator of collaborative and assertive work teams. Positive attitude oriented towards the achievement of objectives and goals, dynamic and committed. With extensive professional experience in the Landwork and academia, he has a long and respected career in teaching, academic administration, technology transfer, institutional self-evaluation and engineering careers and university management. Solid knowledge of the higher education and postgraduate sectors. Knowledge and experience in implementing development plans, academic policies, introducing institutional stamps and innovation and entrepreneurship. He likes traveling, music and taking on new challenges, in addition to life outdoors. He speaks, read and writes English, French and Catalan.
